You can truly escape into another world here – another world amongst the trees and gardens, completely hidden and out of sight, in your private little ecosphere.
Drive in through the forest and behold a large well-maintained parking area and circular drive, you will spot the river rock studio with intrigue, the double carport and two paths – which one should you take to find the home? Gravitate toward the two striking monoliths on the right that suggest something bold and important or be drawn into the tropical garden following the red rock pathway like an intrepid traveler on a Pacific island.
The anticipation of every step forward brings back the thrill of childhood at a theme park. The red rock path amongst bright green succulent foliage drew me that way, the wrong way I was told, not that I cared. Whether it be the front or the back door the child was awakened.
Your eyes explode, it’s not a home to just walk through expecting you know everything – you look and marvel at everything, every door, every window, every surface high to low, every detail – everything is something you’ve not quite seen before.
The timber and the mud brick always give that warm, homely, secure feeling but every mud brick home I’ve seen is always different and tells a unique story of those that built it and how it all came to be. Like this one, they have a story and they were all built with love and passion.
This mudbrick home is one-of-a-kind and so too are the gardens and surrounds, it just keeps on awakening the child inside at every step and every turn. The wandering stone paths take you past garden niches with seats and artistic creations, rustic garden sheds, growing/green houses, BBQ shelter, wood-fired pizza station, big rock fire pit, succulents, cacti, palms, Australian natives, ornamentals, fruit trees, bamboo, potting stations, raised beds, rock walls, man-made creek and open grassed play areas.
Located only 12 minutes from the Kempsey town center this fairytale sanctuary if fit for all the family to enjoy. Yes, it’s flood-free. Although you will find the magical pristine waters of the Macleay River just a kilometer or two around the corner where you can enjoy fishing, canoeing and swimming in no time at all.
