Waiting for a New Chapter
If you love character homes and can see the potential beneath the surface, this one is well worth a look.
Set on approximately 2,041sqm and surrounded by farmland and beautiful views, this four-bedroom home at Wards River has plenty of history and even more potential. She's a little tired these days and needs someone with vision, but there's no denying the charm that's waiting to be brought back to life.
The lounge room is a feature, being large with solid timber-lined walls & soaring cathedral ceilings. A wood burning fire is perfect for those chilly country nights.
There are four large bedrooms, two with built-in robes, and all open onto the wide wrap-around verandahs through glass sliding doors. There are also solid timber floorboards hiding beneath the old carpets, just waiting for someone to bring them back to life.
The kitchen has solid timber cabinetry and leads into a separate formal dining room. With direct access to the verandah, it's easy to picture a table and chairs out there, enjoying the rural outlook and mountain views with a morning cuppa or a long Sunday lunch.
The home has a bathroom with a bath, shower, vanity and WC.
There's plenty of history here, too. The house was once the Gloucester Golf Clubhouse before being relocated to Wards River when the club moved to its current site. The property was also home to "Sandy's Selection", the local blacksmith's residence and business. Out the back, you'll find an early slab hut and matching shed, adding to the old country charm.
And for the train enthusiasts, the North Coast railway line runs directly across the road.
The property has a rainwater tank and onsite waste management system.
Wards River sits roughly halfway between Stroud and Gloucester, offering a more affordable entry into country living. With more buyers discovering these smaller towns and bringing old homes back to life, this could be your chance to secure a property with history, roll up your sleeves and create something special.
