20 Belmont Avenue, UPWEY

High above the rolling landscape, where evening clouds blush pink and gold across the Lysterfield Valley, “Willowood” has watched the seasons turn for more than a century. Originally built as a 1910 holiday home, it has been thoughtfully transformed for modern family life while retaining the details that give it such a memorable soul. Set on approximately 1,304m², the home brings together sash and casement windows, French doors and timber panelling with contemporary comfort and an abundance of natural light. The result feels warm, relaxed and quietly special, with every window offering another glimpse of greenery, sky or distant hills. At the centre, the kitchen connects easily with the living and dining spaces beyond. Butcher-block benchtops, plentiful storage, a dishwasher and 900mm stainless steel upright cooker make it wonderfully practical, while the open outlook keeps the cook involved in conversation. French doors extend the dining area onto a covered all-season deck dressed in ambient festoon lighting, creating a front-row seat for the sky’s nightly performance. Four robed bedrooms sit along the main hallway, including a generous main with walk-in robe and direct deck access. The beautifully renovated family bathroom adds a luxurious note with full-height tiling, a deep soaking bath, frameless dual-head rain shower and chic floating vanity. A spiral timber staircase reveals a lower-level living zone with its own entrance, bathroom and hearty wood heater. Ideal for multi-generational living, adult children, guests or a private retreat, it offers valuable independence alongside a laundry, storage and cellar area. Outside, the established gardens unfold in layers beneath flourishing gardens bursting with camellias. A flat lawn invites barefoot games and fresh-air fun, the cubby and slide keep younger residents busy, and a firepit zone waits beneath star-filled skies. There is also room for chooks, vegetables and all the small pleasures of a more grounded way of living. With Gilmour Park, Upwey Village, the station and local schools within walking distance, Willowood offers history without formality, space without isolation and views that never quite become ordinary.
