2/33 Albany Road, Toorak

Inspect as advertised or by private appointment. Offered to the market for the first time in 53 years within the landmark "Santosa", designed by Australia's prominent modernist architect Guilford Bell, this private three-bedroom townhouse represents a chance to secure a genuine piece of Melbourne's post-war modernism in one of the boulevard's most recognisable residential buildings. The setting has long held its own reputation, and its place among Guilford Bell's body of work is unmistakable to anyone familiar with his era, facing north along an oak-lined stretch bordered by some of Toorak's most prestigious estates. The true-north orientation draws natural light across both levels, giving the gardens a clear presence throughout the updated, move-in-ready interior, evident on the lower level, where floor-to-ceiling glass and a trio of sliding doors allow the garden to transition seamlessly into the substantial living spaces. The accompanying renovated kitchen with stone finishes and quality appliances is positioned to host, offering direct laundry access and a powder room on the same level. The three bedrooms sit on the upper floor with northern outlooks and built-in robes, arranged around a refurbished bathroom with a separate shower and bath. Split-system heating and cooling, motorised al-fresco awning, keypad entry, irrigation and ample internal storage support daily use, while an undercover carport and private lock-up storage room add secure amenities for a lock-and-leave lifestyle. As one of Guilford Bell's more recognised contributions to the area, "Santosa" retains its architectural significance decades after its completion, close to a choice of elite schools, including Loreto Mandeville Hall Toorak, Lauriston Girls' School, St Kevin's College and De La Salle College, and only moments to trams on Toorak and Malvern Road, the shopping and dining precincts of Toorak, Hawksburn and Tooronga Villages, and easy M1 access.
