54A Perkins Street, The Hill

Auction Location: On-Site Built around 1865 for the keeper of Newcastle’s leading lights, this historic triple-brick residence is intertwined with the city’s maritime history. Two nearby towers worked in conjunction with Nobbys Lighthouse to guide ships safely into the harbour, while the home itself has stood as a quiet witness to more than 160 years of Newcastle’s evolution. A substantial rear extension completed in the mid-1990s expanded the living spaces, while recent improvements including a new Colorbond roof, new joists and rafters, plus a complete meter box upgrade provide valuable peace of mind for future owners. Downstairs features a formal lounge and separate dining room, both showcasing original fireplaces and soaring ceilings, alongside a generous timber kitchen, renovated bathroom, laundry and covered alfresco area overlooking a private brick-paved courtyard. Upstairs, three bedrooms are complemented by a large rumpus room and an enclosed sunroom stretching almost the full length of the home. From the sunroom and one of the bedrooms, views extend across the harbour to Stockton, Nobbys Headland and the iconic silhouette of Christ Church Cathedral. Living in The Hill places you at the centre of everything that makes Newcastle such a sought-after place to call home. Wander through King Edward Park, grab a coffee on Darby Street, spend the afternoon at Newcastle Beach or the Ocean Baths, and meet friends for dinner in the CBD or Honeysuckle. It’s a lifestyle where history, walkability, beaches, cafés and culture come together in one of the city’s most tightly held neighbourhoods. – Newcastle East Public School – 160m – Newcastle Grammar – 400m Register for the Auction – https://buy.realtair.com/properties/265435 Disclaimer: All information provided by Wilton Lemke Stewart in the marketing of a property for sale or lease has been sourced from various third-party outlets that we deem reliable.
