COUNTRY
Rolling and undulating mix of softwood scrub, broken scrub and ironbark forest. Approximately 35% (600 acres) of softwood and broken scrub, 55% (900 acres) narrow leaf and bloodwood forest and 15% (200 acres) of creek flats. Good mixture of buffel, rhodes, panic, butterfly pea and Seca throughout the property including the forest country.
WATER
This area has a reputation for excellent supplies of underground water. Two bores that are interconnected with a depth of approximately 20 metres supply a 20,000* gallon Pioneer tank. The head from the bores to the tank is 100* metres. All poly pipe is PN12 blue line high pressure with 50mm as the delivery lines and 50mm and 40mm as the offtake lines. Concrete troughs are spread throughout the property enabling the whole property to be grazed. There is a trough in each paddock with some paddocks accessing two troughs. Two of the bores are equipped with solar pumps with one being able to be powered by a generator in the event of cloudy weather. There is also 2 bores unequipped which will allow 3 inch pumps to be put down.
7 dams are also spread throughout the property.
The tank is equipped with a Farmbot water monitoring system which gives water levels in the tank and alerts to your phone or computer in the event of water loss. The unequipped bores have a depth of 10 metres and the other 20 metres.
FENCING
Rotational grazing practice in place with 4 barb internal fences and single wire electric fences. Subdivided into 20 paddocks.
CARRYING CAPACITY
Based on an average rainfall of 26 inches the owners carrying 250 Wagyu Angus breeders, currently on a total of 16 inches for the past 12 months there is 290 head of cattle comprising 150 Wagyu Angus cows and calves and 140 feeder steers averaging 450* kilograms plus liveweight, these steers are booked into a feedlot for delivery at the end of March. There is still plenty of grass to carry the breeding herd through.
