Simply breathtaking and unparalleled in prestige, the recently completed total transformation of Emerald Terrace, by the acclaimed Stephen Akehurst, has resulted in an extraordinary generational family home where state-of-the-art contemporary style complements the timeless elegance and grandeur of its 1877 period origins.
Flooded with light and defined by grand proportions, the interiors soar to ceilings of four to five metres, where Italian marble fireplaces and sweeping arches reflect the richness of the era, tempered by steel-framed glass and refined finishes. Natural marble surfaces define the entertainer’s kitchen, appointed with Sub-Zero refrigeration, a refrigerated beverage drawer and a fully equipped Gaggenau scullery with a custom mudroom extension. Expansive living and dining spaces extend from here, ambient with a wood-burning fireplace and enriched by a direct al-fresco connection, opening to a cobblestone courtyard and gas-heated pool, bordered by irrigated evergreen gardens.
A vast first-floor living domain offers impressive versatility as a guest retreat, media room, or self-contained zone, complete with an adjoining laundry room featuring a dumbwaiter, a full bathroom, and a guest bedroom with an interconnected home office. Four further bedrooms feature bespoke robes, with two ground-floor rooms sharing a Jack & Jill en-suite, and two on the upper level, including the sumptuous primary suite, which incorporates a private lounge with an OFP, an opulent dressing room, and a marble-clad en suite with a Victoria + Albert freestanding bath.
An additional living room extends into the roofline, whilst comprehensive appointments include hydronic heating, multi-zone climate control, integrated sound, remote blinds to the main living, video intercom with CCTV security and alarm, and an underground cellar. Outdoor entertaining is enhanced by multiple mains gas connections, while secure right-of-way access is introduced through automated gates and a distinctive drawbridge. Entirely removed from city noise yet opposite the light rail, the address is within walking distance of Albert Park Village, MSAC, the lake, Clarendon Street and Melbourne’s most prestigious schools.
