Set across five glorious acres, this Fasham Johnson architectural residence is one of those rare properties where design, landscape and lifestyle feel completely in sync. Originally custom built for its owners and among the last homes personally designed by Brian Stacey, it carries the hallmarks of thoughtful architecture: warmth, light, soul and a deep connection to nature. A Fasham Johnson home has a way of wrapping around you like a warm embrace. Expanses of glass pull the gardens inside, vaulted ceilings create volume without losing intimacy, and clerestory windows lift the eye while amplifying natural light. North-to-rear orientation ensures beautiful sunrises filtering through the trees, while winter living is wonderfully cosy thanks to hydronic heating and the home’s grounded material palette. The main living domain is quintessentially architectural yet effortlessly liveable. Open-plan living and meals flow beneath soaring ceilings, with floor-skimming windows framing a constantly changing garden outlook. The kitchen balances functionality with understated elegance: stone benchtops, a full suite of Miele appliances including induction cooktop, warming drawer and integrated dishwasher, generous island with breakfast bar, and a walk-in pantry ready for serious cooks or enthusiastic entertainers alike. Sliding doors dissolve the boundary to a sun-drenched deck complete with retractable awning. It functions as an outdoor living room, perfect for slow breakfasts, long lunches or simply watching the light move across the landscape. Accommodation is beautifully zoned. The main suite feels indulgent yet serene, featuring a lavish walk-in robe and a sophisticated ensuite crowned by a suspended bathtub beneath a glass ceiling - equal parts relaxation ritual and design statement. A guest bedroom enjoys ensuite-style access to the main bathroom, while an open study with built-in desks can easily adapt as an additional bedroom or second living zone. Downstairs introduces exceptional flexibility: a soundproof media room or third bedroom, a separate studio ideal for a home business set-up, art or gym, or fourth bedroom, plus extensive garaging and workshop spaces that could be reimagined to suit evolving needs. Outside, the grounds are extraordinary. Around three acres of park-like lawns merge into two acres of woodland forest, creating a private sanctuary alive with wildlife. Lyrebirds, echidnas, wallabies, wombats, kookaburras and black cockatoos are regular visitors. Established plantings include mountain ash, magnolias, silver birch groves, chestnuts, Japanese maples, sequoia pine, camellias and native acacias, alongside productive fruit trees and kitchen-garden beds. A dry dam, rock walls, sunset firepit zone and a level lawn affectionately dubbed the “cricket pitch” complete the picture. Practicalities are equally impressive: auto-gated entry, multiple garages including a substantial workshop, rainwater tanks, double glazing, cellar storage and two access points to the property. Yet despite the privacy, you remain within easy reach of the Dandenong Ranges villages and commuter links. This is a lifestyle retreat where architecture and landscape collaborate beautifully, offering space to breathe, entertain, create and reconnect with what matters most.
