This light, bright, character, hills' home is a fantastic example of inspiring 70's architecture featuring high ceilings, a variety of floor levels, appealing timber elements, a heatform fireplace with built-in wood box and the warmth of natural building materials. Big picture windows and (wind out) awning windows give an appealing visual connection to the surrounding greenery and the ever-changing sky.
This architecturally designed home is a superb representation of the construction trend of the 1970's, which was to create a structure that fitted comfortably into its surroundings. Natural building materials and earthy tones were major design features, and surprisingly, there's been no noticeable change to the original home after its 47 years' existence.
Architect, Alan M Henderson of Leederville, created a perfect, quality hills' home in a time when designers liked to add a touch of the past. A recycled lead light window, vintage miners' lamps from the Kalgoorlie goldfields, an antique wall lamp (thought to be from 'His Majesty's Theatre) and an Edwardian marble-topped washstand, are exciting curios, indeed!
The brief from the first owner was for the residence to fit perfectly into its bush setting, and this it does. Even the 2 grass trees that the builders had been told to 'retain and protect adequately', still stand as an impressive entrance statement to the home.
Natural bush Kurrajong Reserve opposite the property, ensures an abundance of bird and wildlife, and a constant health-giving green view across the valley.
A convenient location with shopping, café, restaurants and professional services within 1km of home, and Roleystone Community College just 1.9km away.
