Quietly positioned within the historic township of Oatlands, ‘Syndal’ is a character-rich 1950s residence, reflecting the enduring craftsmanship and considered design of its era. Set well back from the street on a gently sloping 1,802m² allotment, the approximately 178m² residence retains distinctive period features, including rusticated concrete block cladding, contrasting smooth quoins, steel-framed windows and a steel roof. The thoughtfully arranged interior offers three bedrooms, two with built-in wardrobes, a generous living and dining room, and a separate north-west facing family room. The original kitchen retains its period charm, complete with a glazed sliding servery, built-in buffet and adjoining pantry. Recent improvements have been undertaken with respect for the home’s original character, including polished timber floors, a new bathroom and separate toilet, fresh interior and exterior paintwork, and new carpeting to the main bedroom and family room. A reverse-cycle heat pump provides comfort to the main living area, while a garage, laundry and workshop occupy the lower level. The substantial grounds offer privacy, openness and ample opportunity to establish gardens and outdoor spaces, complementing the home’s generous proportions. Oatlands is renowned for its architectural heritage and established country community, offering a range of amenities including schools, medical services, shopping, cafés, recreational facilities and a local distillery. With its distinctive construction, retained period detailing and carefully considered improvements, ‘Syndal’ offers an appealing balance of heritage character and contemporary living.
