1 Lachen 'the Chute'

Originally designed and retained by the architect behind the broader Lachen development, this three-bedroom, three-bathroom chalet is a rare piece of Mt Hotham history. Built in 1997 and held by its current owner since 2011, it carries the hallmarks of someone who built not just to a brief, but to a vision - with considered design details that set it apart from the moment you step inside. Positioned in the heart of Davenport Village with easy access to the full mountain, Lachen 'The Chute' rewards those who know what to look for in an alpine property. The top floor is where the chalet truly comes alive. A generous open-plan living, dining and kitchen space features vaulted ceilings, stone walls and a gas/log fire - the kind of setting that makes a cold mountain evening something to look forward to. Step out through the lounge to a north-facing private balcony, complete with a built-in outdoor dining setting, and you have the perfect spot to soak in the mountain air after a day on the slopes. Downstairs, three beautifully appointed bedrooms each have their own private ensuite, complemented by a dedicated drying room, ski storage and laundry - everything a serious snow family needs, thoughtfully arranged. The master bedroom features a spacious walk-in robe, while its ensuite is anchored by a striking freestanding claw foot bath - a quietly luxurious touch that elevates the everyday. A concealed trapdoor from the entry level - or a skidoo-sized exterior door at the rear - opens into a generous basement space, offering exciting potential to add a kids' rumpus room, an additional bedroom and bathroom, or simply retain it as the ultimate ski gear sanctuary. Properties like this don't come to market often. Architecturally considered, historically significant within the development, and with genuine scope to add further value - this is Mt Hotham ownership at its most rewarding.
