Gracing one of Mount Eliza's most prestigious beachside locations adjacent to the Golden Mile, this enchanting period home on a large 1311m2 (approx) corner allotment is awash with history and endless potential just footsteps to the village, beach and Toorak College.
Originally home to the gardener of the Mornington Peninsula's renowned Grimwade family, the circa-1880s weatherboard cottage with high ceilings, stained-glass windows and polished baltic timber floors retains much of the old-world character and charm, while a series of extensions and updates have transformed the space into a 4 bedroom, 3 bathroom family residence.
Greeting you off the wide entry foyer, the formal living and dining room are backdropped by an open fireplace in a marble surround and flow into a well-appointed kitchen updated in the early 2000s with timber benchtops and sleek white appliances, including a Miele dishwasher.
A large 2nd living zone offers external access to the front verandah, while two sets of French doors swing open to a central alfresco terrace and deck surrounded by cottage gardens with lemon trees, lavender, boxed hedges and roses, stepping down to a garden studio flanked in tall windows.
On a floor unto itself on the upper level, an expansive master bedroom enjoys its own interconnecting parents' retreat beneath a dormer ceiling, along with a walk-in robe, fully updated ensuite and balcony overlooking the gardens and woodlands yonder.
The flexible floorplan offers a 2nd master with dressing room and ensuite downstairs, a study and central den/4th bedroom in this rare seaside gem, which includes hydronic heating throughout, a split-system, workshop, tool shed, water tanks, 5 car accommodation and wraparound verandah behind a white picket fence.
