Situated in a tightly held area near Daveys Bay, the property lies in a quiet cul de sac, appearing to the public as a Gated Community. Designed by architect John Lockwood, the house was built by Fasham Homes, under the supervision of the owner, in 1998. An extension, also designed by John Lockwood, was built in 2005, adding a study, and an upstairs room and deck.
The house is approached at the end of the court, through hand crafted granite stone pillars, framed on each side by Golden elms. The driveway is exposed aggregate concrete, edged by low profile dry rock walls. The approach is set with an ornamental pond, framed by pleached Manchurian pears, and surrounded by low English box hedges.
The construction is pale rendered brick veneer, with a Monier tiled and sarked roof. All walls and ceilings are Rockwool insulated. Tiled pathways lead to the entrance. Gas, electricity, NBN and water are all delivered underground to the house North wall. Satellite dish receives pay TV. The house is built on a concrete slab. At the North end, 6 x 5 metre deep piers were sunk under the slab to provide added strength in an area where Dame Mabel Brookes had a lake, prior to the subdivision.
Central heating and cooling are provided by a Uniair cooling unit on the external North wall and a gas furnace in the garage roof with a central fan. There is an extra split system in the room upstairs. In the family room is a large Illusion gas space heater. Ducted vacuum system. Both instant gas and storage electric hot water systems. Alarm system.
Large Italian tiles cover the hallways, family, dining, kitchen, utility and verandah areas. The kitchen has granite bench tops and a Gaggenau range with gas and electric hot tops, electric BBQ, steamer (with plumbed drain) and a deep fryer. Electric oven and microwave. Over the ranges is a double Qasair extractor fan.
There are 3 bedrooms, a study and an upstairs recreation room with views and a deck with retractable awning. The main bathroom is lined with limestone, has a sunken spa bath, shower, twin basins and separate toilet. The guest or 2nd bathroom is fully tiled with shower, toilet, basin and heated towel rail. The double garage is connected to the house and contains built in cupboards and an automatic tilt door.
Outside are 3 separate buildings. The main one being a brick double garage sized workshop/storage shed with a concrete floor, electricity and a loft. The 2nd is a cedar garden shed with concrete floor and power. The 3rd is a small cedar shed used to house garden machinery at the bottom of the garden. There are 5 rain water storage tanks holding just under 30,000 litres with 2 pressure pumps to deliver the water.
The garden needs to be seen to be appreciated, containing trees of close to a 100 years of indescribable beauty and giving the property a magic ambience.
Off the garden are 2 access gates to a private, exclusive easement. This pathway which goes via a lock gate to the beach at Daveys Bay and the Yacht Club. Access to this easement is exclusive to 12 neighbouring properties.
