This delightful 1880's timber workers' cottage creates an immediate impression with visitors passing under a tall hedge and through a lovingly tended front garden on their way to the graceful double-fronted home with main living on one level. The original section of the property has been fully restored and includes three double bedrooms plus guest W/C and stylish modern bathroom with a skylight and heated towel rail. The floors are lined with original kauri plus a section of majestic 8" Australian hardwood boards, thought to be added by the early occupants who were sawmillers.
A striking contemporary addition has given the property an abundance of space for entertaining and family living. The light-filled open plan living and dining room boasts cathedral ceilings, spotted gum floors and sliding doors which open to the garden. The large area also includes a concealed laundry and a gourmet kitchen appointed with granite benchtops, an integrated Bosch dishwasher and a Smeg gas cooktop.
The property also has a secure double carport which has an automatic door, built-in workbench and storage space. Above the carport is a large separate studio, which is filled with natural light and offers an ideal space for a home office or teenage accommodation.
Further features of the property include reverse-cycle air-conditioning, back to base security alarm, gas heating bayonets, a generous paved entertaining space and superb gardens with an expansive lawn.
The property also boasts an exceptional position in a supremely quiet cul-de-sac. It offers rear access to a playground and equal walking distance to Waverton and North Sydney Stations as well as the shops, restaurants and cafes of North Sydney, schools, harbour foreshores and parks as well as the McMahons Point cafe strip of Blues Point Road.
This hidden gem sits on the peninsula flanked by Berrys Bay to the west and Lavender Bay to the east. McMahons Point is a conservation area with charming workers cottages, Victorian terraces and Art Deco apartments lining the sandstone streets that lead to waterfront parks.
