20 Lower Heidelberg Road, Ivanhoe

A Homage to the Large Estates, Grandeur and Grace of Ivanhoe. Penthouses designed and built in the manner of the estates that gave this suburb its name and its bearing. Point Architects designed Homage as a modern interpretation of classical proportion: a monolithic, stone-faced building set to the rhythm of the street, with fully contemporary services behind a traditional face. Ivanhoe wasn't named by chance. In 1840, the land was named after Sir Walter Scott's novel of the same name, the story of a knight returning home from the Crusades to reclaim what was his. The name held. Streets nearby still carry it: Cedric, Wilfred, Sherwood, Locksley. Ivanhoe has been quietly paying homage to that story for almost two hundred years. Homage picks up where that history left off. Penthouses built with the proportion, permanence and quiet grandeur of the houses this suburb was made for, brought forward without apology into the present.
