Set amongst 6 hectares (approximately 15 acres) of protected native bushland, this remarkable lifestyle property offers privacy, tranquillity and a rare opportunity to live surrounded by an abundance of wildlife. Protected by a conservation covenant, the property is home to threatened species and an incredible diversity of native flora and fauna, all just 75 minutes from Melbourne’s CBD.
Nestled into the hillside, the distinctive earth-covered Terradome residence offers four bedrooms, versatile living spaces and beautiful views across the surrounding bushland. A light-filled atrium welcomes you into the main home, setting the scene for the unique character and charm that awaits. The master bedroom enjoys spectacular views, a large walk-in robe and modern bathroom, while additional accommodation includes a bedroom overlooking the treetops. Two dedicated office areas and a library provide excellent flexibility for working from home, complemented by an expansive main lounge featuring a striking carousel wood heater.
At the heart of the home, the beautifully appointed mountain ash timber and stainless steel kitchen combines character with practicality. A substantial walk-in pantry provides exceptional storage, ideal for preserving produce grown in the established netted vegetable garden and orchard. Adding further convenience, the adjoining double garage with workshop offers direct access to the pantry, making unloading groceries effortless.
A fully self-contained second living area adds another dimension to the property, complete with two bedrooms, its own kitchen, bathroom/laundry facilities, private entrance and dedicated parking. With the ability to be separated from the main residence or opened for shared living, this versatile space is ideal for extended family, independent teenagers or visiting guests.
Comfort has been carefully considered throughout, with carpeted bedrooms, underfloor bathroom heating, heated towel rails and a heat pump hot water system servicing the main residence.
Outside, a substantial shed provides accommodation for a caravan or boat, with an adjoining woodshed and expansive entertaining deck, perfect for weekend barbecues while enjoying the peaceful surroundings. Established walking tracks wind through the bushland to a large dam, where platypus have occasionally been spotted.
The property's extraordinary biodiversity is a highlight, with resident lyrebirds breeding annually and sightings of koalas, wallabies, long-nosed bandicoots, goannas, forest owls, black cockatoos and gliding possums. Its conservation significance was even captured in the short documentary A Wildlife Film with a Twist, narrated by the late John Clarke and available to view on YouTube.
Further features include substantial water tank storage and the benefits associated with the property's conservation covenant, including a reported land tax exemption, subject to eligibility.
Offering an exceptional combination of flexible living, established infrastructure and protected natural beauty, this is a truly special property for those seeking a peaceful lifestyle with a strong connection to the Australian bush.
