Retreat to perfect surroundings in this beautiful and much loved 3-bedroom period home in sought-after Elsternwick just a stone’s throw from vibrant Glen Huntly Road. Gorgeous gardens and exquisite heritage details invite you to experience the warmth and ambience of ‘The Stables’ c1920, beautifully combining that era's grace with modern family requirements.
Beyond a sunny veranda, a versatile layout unfolds with so many options to live and entertain over two impeccably presented levels. Separate lounge and dining rooms, each with a tiled, gas open fireplace, provide a stunning backdrop for formal occasions. A delightful meals area with the original cold-store now an in-ground cellar. Inviting family living spills outdoors (gas wood fire) to paved entertaining (shade awning), a BBQ area (sink) and solar heated pool creating a private, leafy oasis.
Soaring sky-windows illuminate a prestige kitchen, this generous space being the heart of the home appointed with a Falcon Classic Deluxe cooker, timber island, benches and breakfast bar amidst volumes of custom cabinetry. An indulgent spa bathroom services an elegant front bedroom filled with period charm (built-in robes), while another ground floor suite offers an ideal main or guest bedroom option with its own ensuite.
The upper level spoils parents with their very own domain showcasing an expansive lounge (gas wood fire) and sunset terrace overlooking the tennis courts. The main bedroom also boasts a pool view terrace, walk-in robe and porcelain vanity ensuite. Stunning period features (polished floorboards, high ornate ceilings, leadlights and bay windows) complement modern comforts such as ducted heating, split systems (bedrooms and family living), plantation shutters and excellent storage.
Established gardens require little maintenance with evergreen artificial turf and a watering system.
There is a single automatic garage with access via Murray Street. Another strength of this well-loved property is its central location. Every possible need is in mere walking distance. Cosmopolitan restaurants, a large supermarket, the cinema, medical centres, parks, well known specialty shops as well as family oriented cafes abound within minutes of the front door. This house is within the catchment area of several prominent secondary schools; Wesley, Caulfield Grammar, Shelford and also shares proximity to a variety of local primary schools. Public transport services (train, tram and bus) provide frequent and convenient access to the city and the inner suburbs.
Meticulously maintained by the same owners for over 46 years, this is a rare opportunity to savour an enviable Elsternwick lifestyle in a picturesque family setting.
