Original character and thoughtful updates come together within this bright and well presented two bedroom apartment. Bamboo floors bring warmth underfoot, while brand new carpet and fresh paint touch ups give the interiors a fresh lift. Living extends to an elevated balcony, a private spot among the treetops for a morning coffee. Warm, easy and with a touch of personality, this is the perfect place to call home in the heart of the inner north.
The tightly held complex of just eight units brings together blonde brick, steel casement windows and matching white balcony railings. Established trees frame the building, while a spacious driveway provides access to a dedicated carport. No. 4 is housed on the first floor, accessed via an inviting front patio with flower pots and shared stairwell.
The renovated kitchen is arranged beneath a big window, bringing in natural light and taking in views across the surrounding scenery. Stone worktops meet a tiled splashback, while plenty of cabinetry provides a spot for everything. All electric appliances include a Bosch oven and cooktop and Fisher & Paykel dishwasher, completing a practical and well considered space.
Living, dining and cooking come together within a generous open plan, with space to dine with friends, lounge in comfort and step out to the balcony for some fresh air. And we love the special touches, open shelving for display, a mounted blackboard for daily notes, reminders and grocery lists, plus green internal doors adding a playful hit of colour.
Both bedrooms have built in robes and brand new carpet underfoot, with generous windows connecting them to the outlook beyond. The combined bathroom and laundry retains some of the apartment’s original character, with mosaic tiled floors alongside an updated vanity and bathtub.
And the locale is ideal. Stroll to Gang Gang for coffee, breakfast, live music, trivia nights and flea markets. Downer playing fields, Melba Street Park and Downer Micro Forest are all close to hand, while the Dickson and Braddon precincts offer plenty of dining, shopping and everyday amenities. Schools, the ANU and transport are also within easy reach, including the light rail into the CBD, which is an easy 13 minutes by car.
