Nestled on just over 5 acres (approx) in the much sought-after Chewton Bushlands, this off-grid three-bedroom home offers a peaceful escape, surrounded by nature's beauty. The property offers privacy and serenity, except for the songs of birds and the occasional visiting koala! Close to the charming village of Chewton, featuring the iconic Red Hill Hotel, a post office, and a community swimming pool. Castlemaine is also nearby, providing retail options, amenities, the Saturday market at Wesley Hill, Castlemaine schools (including the Steiner School), and train services to Melbourne and Bendigo, and the property has easy access to the Calder Freeway.
A central foyer separates the living spaces from the bedrooms, creating two wings to the generous floorplan. To the north is the open-plan living room with dining and the kitchen. The living space features a solid wood heater, timber-clad walls, large windows framing the landscape, and a high-raked ceiling with clerestory windows that fill the space with natural light. The updated kitchen provides a freestanding gas cooktop with an oven (bottled gas), timber benchtops, a pantry, storage, bar-style seating and an outlook to the east-facing alfresco entertaining area. A fireplace with a stone surround is flanked by double doors that open to a 10.1 x 5.3 north and west-facing entertaining deck. The deck overlooks the surrounding bushland and makes for the ideal spot to entertain family and friends and watch the sunset. A north-facing lounge makes for a cosy place to relax and enjoy the view of the trees through the windows.
Three generous-sized bedrooms look out to the garden, and the main bedroom has a solid wood heater with a brick surround, built-in robes and external access to the front verandah. The bathroom has a shower over the bath, a vanity and a toilet, and the laundry has easy external access. A shed houses the off-grid solar battery backup and generator. Three large water tanks provide water for the house and garden, and the home has NBN connectivity.
The 5.17 acre (approx) property is a tranquil escape with private bushland, a pretty and low maintenance garden, fruit trees, a 5.4m x 5m carport, an enclosed raised veggie garden and a chook pen. Two large dams nestled with the landscape provide water for the garden and make the perfect swimming spot during summer.
This off-grid home is a beautifully presented retreat that sits perfectly with its natural surroundings. Enjoy the abundant wildflowers, diverse bird life, and the tranquillity of bushland living, all while being just minutes from the conveniences of community life.
