Highly renowned, tightly held and ahead of its time, the Munro Court development consists of eight passive solar houses designed by Lifehouse Design and Sam Cox Landscape to promote sustainable living within its community. Completed in 2004, No. 3 was one of the first houses in the development. Clad in a combination of Western Red Cedar and bagged brick, the home blends beautifully into its surrounding environment. The landscaping is designed and planted for privacy, with green hedges rather than fences separating the properties.
The design's floorpan focuses on a well proportioned north-facing open plan living space combined with the kitchen and dining area, and features double doors to courtyards to the north and south. The kitchen provides a large island bench, plenty of storage, and a freestanding gas cooker. The north courtyard features a vine-covered pergola creating a green room in summer while allowing the winter sun to stream into the living and dining areas. The two bedrooms, privately located at opposite ends of the house, each have an ensuite and built-in robes. A European-style laundry and a powder room complete the floorplan. Design details include double glazing throughout, split system, gas heater, ceiling fans and integrated solar system.
A carport with an adjoining shed leads to an exterior entry foyer with a bench seat. The drought-tolerant garden includes granite boulders, a native and indigenous planting design, and water tank. This property offers a rare opportunity for one with a discerning eye for design in a sustainable community environment.
