Embrace architectural innovation in this modern-retro retreat, set in an award-winning garden between Brighton’s leafy Whyte Street park and the vibrant Were Street village. Near schools, transport, and the beach, this three-bedroom home was designed in the late 1970s to respond to its prized orientation, maximising space, light, and seamless indoor-outdoor living.
Thoughtfully integrated with its surroundings, the home features soaring raked ceilings and expansive glazing that invite natural light and lush greenery inside. Warm brick and timber finishes echo the garden’s charm, while a gas wood fire heater adds a welcoming ambience. Seamlessly connected to a central courtyard, bathed in northern sunshine, its design is ideal for entertaining.
Inside, the layout promotes effortless flow between generous lounge and dining areas and a light-filled kitchen. Original cabinetry, a breakfast bar, and a copper range-hood sit alongside a Miele induction cooktop, oven, and dishwasher, balancing retro charm with modern functionality. The spacious wet area includes a large laundry, cedar-lined sauna, and a two-way tiled bathroom, adding both nostalgia and convenience.
The ground floor hosts a tranquil main bedroom with built-in robes, a semi-ensuite, and access to its own private walled garden. Follow a skylit staircase upstairs to find more superbly zoned accommodation including two light and lofty bedrooms, each with sunlit balconies and built-in storage, and a bright coastal-toned bathroom.
Ahead of its time, this home combines quality construction with architectural flair in the heart of beachside Brighton. Additional highlights include gas heating, reverse cycle air conditioning, native gardens, a double carport, and a brick workshop and storage room. Enjoy close proximity to parkland, cafes, the Brighton Grocer, Brighton Beach station, and Church Street in this blue-chip address. A timeless Bayside retreat with potential for future enhancement.
