This beautifully restored historic home, set amongst nearly an acre of rose- and wisteria-filled gardens, is just a short stroll from Bridgetown's main street and local schools.
With three bedrooms and a study, the weatherboard cottage combines the charm of yesteryear with modern-day comfort. Wide verandahs offer views across the gardens and surrounding landscape, while high ceilings, French doors and period features preserve its circa-1910 character.
Generous bedrooms, two living areas and a separate study are flexible spaces for family life, entertaining or working from home. The powered shed provides ample storage and a workspace for projects.
In recent years, the property has undergone extensive improvements, both inside and out. Underfloor insulation, five reverse-cycle split-system air conditioners and two wood-burning heaters provide year-round warmth.
A recently remodelled bathroom, second toilet, new heat-pump hot water system and fresh bedroom carpets add further practicality and comfort. Outdoors, the clawfoot bath (with hot water and shower) is a lovely place to unwind amongst nature.
The house has been partially restumped, its verandahs and balustrades replaced, and much of its interior and exterior freshly painted. The substantial attic spaces offer further potential for storage or development as additional floorspace. Subdivision of the block may also be an option, subject to council approvals.

THE GARDENS
The gardens offer a succession of colour and interest throughout the seasons.
Spring begins with clouds of blossoms from ornamental cherries and fruit trees, followed by purple, white and pink wisteria. As the weather warms, roses take centre stage, including a magnificent bower at the entrance. Summer sees vibrant crepe myrtles in bloom, while autumn transforms the garden again with the rich foliage of deciduous ornamentals.
What set this property apart from many of Bridgetown's larger blocks is the investment in landscaping to make the land accessible and usable. Extensive earthworks have created multiple level areas, generous lawns and an large open area at the rear of the property.
Whether your ambitions include a productive vegetable garden, an orchard, additional outdoor entertaining areas or a future studio, there is room to explore the possibilities, subject to relevant approvals. There is also an extensive reticulation system, designed with future expansion of the gardens in mind.
