5-7 Beach Avenue, Bowen

An iconic Bowen landmark offering business, property and lifestyle in one unique coastal holding. The Summergarden Twin Cinema is offered for sale as a freehold going concern, including the cinema business, the building, and the residential apartment above, positioned on a 1,012m² landholding just one street back from the iconic Queens Beach. Originally constructed in 1948 as the Summergarden Theatre, the venue began life as an open-air cinema before evolving into the twin-screen complex operating today. More than 75 years later it remains a rare surviving example of a purpose-built regional theatre still operating as a cinema. Over generations the cinema has been at the centre of community life across Bowen and the greater Whitsunday region, welcoming audiences not only for films but also live performances, events and community gatherings. The property also holds a connection to Australian film history. The cinema was featured in the Slim Dusty movie, while Bowen itself was used as a filming location for Baz Luhrmann's epic film "Australia," starring Hugh Jackman and Nicole Kidman. Today the property presents a unique mixed-use opportunity combining an established entertainment venue with residential accommodation above. The cinema operates as a twin-screen theatre with an established local audience, while the upper-level apartment is currently owner occupied and provides flexibility for onsite living, management accommodation or potential rental income. Opportunities combining an operating business, commercial freehold and residential living within a coastal property are rarely available.
